Hi, I'm David! I love building things, and I get bored easily. For as long as I can remember my favorite question was, “…but how does it work?” which continues to drive me today.
I love all mediums of building, so you might find me woodworking and building a new piece of furniture, or taking apart a car(especially, old air-cooled German cars), or hunched over a workbench wearing my trusty OptiVISOR's soldering components to a PCB, or assembling a new custom mechanical watch.
… but, the lion's share of my time is spent in the software medium and I have a lengthy history in the industry spanning multiple companies on pretty much all ends of the spectrum. Lately, I've been building and leading a global engineering team at Pex and learning as much as I can about the entire business of building and running a startup. I love that no two days are the same, and when I have opportunities to work on things that software engineering leaders may not typically, like negotiating multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts.
A more recent medium that I've been building in is advising. As happens with most good things, I kind of stumbled into it, but I find the work of advising early stage startups and executives to be some of the most gratifying and satisfying work I've ever done.
I love writing and hold a degree in Philosophy with an emphasis on Ethics. I have strong opinions, held weakly and nothing makes me happier than being proven wrong so come with pragmatism and leave the dogma for click-bait social media posts.
I'm a family man. I'm husband to my wife Raina and father to 3 lovely humans all of whom have taught me more in the last few years than anyone or anything before them. They inspire me, and push me to experience things I'd never have been able to without them in my life.
There's so much more, but this is just a bio on the Internet, not a life-story. If you want the life-story or you just want to chat about, nuclear fusion, wilderness survival, vintage computing, acting, singing, etc. then feel free to reach out to me here.
